Postby ChickenWilly » Sat Sep 27, 2008 1:20 am

Looking for a motor for my Dodge Ramcharger. It currently has a 360. Does anybody know what it takes to be able to put in a 440 if I can find one?? The transmisssion is a 727. Do I need to find a different transmission for a Big Block?? This is my first Dodge and need information. Thanks.

as far as i know yes you need a big block tranny, other wise i believe it is just your motor mounts.

You will need a big block transmission case, 4x4 big block engine mount brackets, truck or van oil pan, dipstick and tube, You will need either truck manifolds or headers. You may need the smaller diameter power brake booster depending on valve cover clearance. You will also need all the pulleys and brackets to mount the alternator, ps pump etc. The rest is minor radiator fitting, hoses, and wiring.

I happen to know where you can get a great running 440 with 69 grand on, it come with an onan gen pac so you can run your tools to change the motor, and if it gets too warm inside, you can fire up the AC unit. Make a deal on the whole thing.

i know where there is a rust free ram charger if anyone wants, mostly restored, painted just needs to be finished and yes it was going to be a mud racer when finished. it is the correct year for the 440 option so with us you could run it in stock class. frame is black, body is silver with an orange roll bar.
